On July 16, Guizhou University (GZU) hosted the opening of the 2024 Postdoctoral Academic Exchange titled "Innovation and High-Quality Development in Forestry and Grass Science in the New Era." The event took place at the Lecture Hall of College of Tobacco Science, West Campus. Attendees included Hu Shipei, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Human Resources and Social Security Department, GZU Vice President Zhang Dalin, and Chen Peng, Director of the Guizhou Talent Service Bureau. The opening ceremony was moderated by Chen Yanbo, Director of GZU’s Office of Human Resources.
In his opening remarks, Zhang Dalin extended a warm welcome to the leaders, experts, and scholars in attendance, thanking them for their participation. He emphasized GZU’s ongoing efforts to align with national development strategies, focusing on the needs of industries and the unique characteristics of southwestern China’s mountainous regions. He highlighted recent breakthroughs in theoretical research and key technologies, as well as advancements in academic development. Zhang reaffirmed that GZU will continue to cultivate high-level talent, strengthen its academic programs, and enhance faculty development to support national forestry development and ecological civilization.
Hu Shipei emphasized that Guizhou’s postdoctoral system has become increasingly mature, playing a key role in fostering young talent, promoting collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions, and building a robust talent pool for the province. He praised GZU for providing a high-quality postdoctoral platform that has produced numerous talented individuals, contributing to technological innovation and the development of key industries in Guizhou. He expressed hope that the event would further highlight the importance of academic achievements in supporting national ecological development and local governance.
The three-day event brought together over 80 experts and scholars from more than 20 universities and government agencies across China. Discussions focused on important topics such as forest management and ecology, soil erosion control, efficient seedling cultivation, and genetic selection in forestry.
The exchange was organized by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee Office, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, with GZU as the host. The Guizhou Forest Resources and Environment Research Center and the College of Forestry at GZU also provided support for the event.
