On November 8, China’s 25th Journalists’ Day, the signing and opening ceremony for the "Guizhou University-Tianyan News International Communication Program" took place at the School of Communication, Guizhou University (GZU). The event, was graced by the presence of Chen Benrong, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Director of Guizhou Provincial Government Information Office; Cao Xi, Vice President of Guizhou Daily Media Group; and Zhang Dalin, Vice President of Guizhou University.

Chen Benrong emphasized that the program is a key initiative under the collaborative framework between the provincial government and local universities, marking a significant step forward in Guizhou’s efforts to cultivate talent in international communication. He noted its vital role in enhancing the province's capacity for global outreach.
Zhang Dalin outlined the recent achievements of the School of Communication, stating that the university is committed to working with Guizhou Daily Media Group to ensure the success of the program. He added that the initiative will provide strong talent support for Guizhou’s international engagement.
Cao Xi reviewed the longstanding cooperation between Guizhou Daily and Guizhou University, describing the program as a meaningful step in deepening their partnership. He expressed confidence in the program’s potential to effectively showcase the stories of China and Guizhou to the world.
During the ceremony, Guizhou Daily Media Group and Guizhou University signed a formal cooperation agreement for the program. Cao Xi and Zhang Dalin jointly unveiled the program’s official nameplate. Pang Bo, Deputy Director of the International Communication Center at Guizhou Daily Media Group, presented the nameplate for the “Discover Guizhou” Youth Studio. Zhang Dalin also awarded certificates of appointment to the program’s industry mentors, including four senior media professionals from Guizhou Daily—Wang Luyao, Xu Shaoting, Min Jie, and Pang Bo.

The program integrates academic and industry resources through a “dual-mentor system” to develop versatile professionals with patriotism, global perspective, innovative thinking, and sustainable growth potential. The inaugural cohort consists of 29 students selected from the 2023 journalism undergraduate class of the School of Communication.
The event was attended by representatives from Tianyan News Editorial and International Communication Centers under Guizhou Daily Media Group, leaders from administrative departments at Guizhou University, the first cohort of students of the program and over 80 faculty and student representatives from the School of Communication.
