On the afternoon of November 8, the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year of the International Preparatory Language Program at Guizhou University took place in the 107 Lecture Hall of the West Campus. The event was honored by the presence of Wang Jinrong, Vice President of Guizhou University, along with the head of the Office of International Relations and students participating in the preparatory program.
Wang Jinrong underscored the necessity for Guizhou University to adopt a robust internationalization strategy aimed at cultivating versatile talents endowed with national pride, global vision, and professional expertise. He offered three key recommendations for students in the preparatory program: first, to define their goals clearly, aspire to excel, adopt a proactive approach, foster a sense of national pride, and embrace social responsibility; second, to confront challenges with resilience, optimism, and determination; and third, to remain steadfast in their aspirations, embody confidence, and strive for success. He conveyed his wishes for the students to achieve remarkable results and expressed hope they would emerge as pillars of the nation and society.
Hong Yun, Director of the Office of International Relations, provided an update on the progress of the “Guizhou University International Preparatory Program”. She stated that since its inception in September, the program has successfully conducted 18 lectures, engaging over 2,000 students, with 102 currently enrolled. Participating universities include prestigious institutions from the Five Eyes Alliance, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore.
Liang Jiexiong, Dean of the Graduate School at Singapore University of Technology and Design, provided an insightful overview of the institution’s foundational information via an online video. His discourse effectively highlighted the university’s unique offerings and academic strengths, illustrating its commitment to innovation and excellence in education.
Lv Menglan, Vice Dean of the College of Chemical Engineering at GZU, emphasized that the opening ceremony represents a significant step in the university’s efforts to enhance its internationalization strategy. She assured that the institution is fully committed to supporting the language program by offering top-tier teaching resources, a conducive learning environment, and comprehensive guidance for study abroad for the students.
