Wang Jinrong, Vice President of Guizhou University, along with representatives from the Office of International Relations and College of International Education attended the 2024 World Chinese Conference held from November 15 to 17 at the National Convention Center in Beijing. On November 15, Han Zheng, Vice President of P.R.C., attended the opening ceremony, where he read a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a keynote speech.
On November 16, during the event titled “Inheritance and Development of the Confucius Institutes—At 20th, the Confucius Institute Is in Its Prime" organized by the China International Chinese Language Education Foundation, Academician Yang Wei, Chairman of theFoundation, presented a plaque to the Confucius Institute at the University of Salamanca in Spain. Wang Jinrong, Vice President of Guizhou University, and Xu Jinjin, the foreign director of the Salamanca Confucius Institute, took the stage as representatives of the Chinese and foreign institutions to receive the plaque.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Salamanca, a joint initiative between Guizhou University and the University of Salamanca in Spain, was officially approved in June 2024. It is the first Confucius Institute established by Guizhou Province in Europe. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Guizhou University in its efforts to enhance international education and promote Chinese language education abroad, further advancing Guizhou University’s global outreach and representing a key breakthrough for both the institution and the province.
The “World Chinese Conference Language Exhibition” took place during the event. The International Education College of Guizhou University participated in the exhibition to promote its international student recruitment and education programs. The booth attracted a large number of overseas Confucius Institutes, educational institutions from both China and abroad, and international students, all eager to learn more about the university’s programs. The exhibition highlighted Guizhou University’s strong development momentum and its capacity to cultivate international talent.
