Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has announced the review results of the 2024 Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund (Guizhou) projects. Guizhou University has successfully obtained approval for a total of eight projects. Among these, four are leading projects, accounting for 50% of the total approved projects in the province and 80% of those among provincial universities. In addition, there are four participating projects. The total direct funding amounts to 15 million yuan, representing significant breakthroughs in both the number of joint key fund-supported projects and the amount of funding.
The Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund is jointly funded by the NSFC and local governments. Its aim is to have the National Natural Science Fund play a guiding role, attracting outstanding scientific research talents from all over the country. It focuses on key scientific and technological issues to meet the major demands of regional economic and social development, with the objective of promoting cross-regional and cross-departmental collaborative innovation and enhancing regional independent innovation capabilities.
The approval of these projects reflects the university's dedicated efforts in implementing strategies such as "Efficient Utilization of Mineral Resources" and "Six Major Industrial Bases" in Guizhou Province. The university has made the most of its advantages in education, science and technology, and personnel in various fields, including big data, ecology, plant protection, and mining and metallurgy disciplines. All of these achievements demonstrate Guizhou University's strong capacity to serve regional economic development and independent innovation.
