On July 10, a meeting between the Guizhou Provincial Publicity Department and Guizhou University on the establishment of a School of Journalism was held at Yunzheng Building on the East Campus. Attendees included Chen Benrong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Publicity Department and Director of the Provincial Government Information Office, GZU CPC Committee Secretary Yang Wei, and Vice President Wang Jinrong, who chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, Yang Wei welcomed Chen Benrong and his team and thanked them for visiting GZU's Collegeof Communication. She noted that Guizhou University has made rapid strides in academic development in recent years, and, with the support of both the Provincial Publicity Department and the university, the College of Communication has steadily advanced. She urged the Collegeof Communication to maintain its growth momentum, attract journalism talent, expand its faculty, and cultivate more high-caliber journalism professionals who have high ethical standards and strong practical skills to meet the needs of today's world.
Chen Benrong identified three key ways to develop journalism talent and advance the School of Communication: enhancing students' political and moral literacy, promoting academic innovation and interdisciplinary synergy, and keeping pace with the forefront of journalism. During the meeting, the Publicity Department of Guizhou University reported on the progress of the campus media platforms, and the School of Communication provided an update on the school's latest initiatives.
